PHICC Release No. 10-007

DPHSS Holding H1N1 Mass Vaccinations for the General Public -
Parents Reminded To Get 2nd Dose of H1N1 Vaccine for Children Age 9 and Under

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will be holding another H1N1 Mass Vaccination Point of Dispensing (POD) for the general public on Saturday, January 23, from 9 am to 12 noon, at the University of Guam (UOG) Fieldhouse. The last person to be allowed entry into the POD will be accepted at 11:30 am. Gates will close at approximately 11:30 am.

DPHSS would like to remind all parents and guardians of children age 9 and under that a second dose of the H1N1 Influenza vaccine will be required four weeks after the first dose is received. The second dose is to ensure the effective vaccination of smaller children whose immune systems are still developing.

Children nine (9) years of age and younger who received their first dose of H1N1 Influenza Vaccine are urged to visit their primary care provider or attend the DPHSS’ mass vaccination Point of Dispensing (POD) on Saturday, January 23 at the UOG Fieldhouse between 9 am to 12 noon, to receive their second dose. (Note: the last person to be allowed entry into the POD will be accepted at 11:30 am on this day)

All PODs are open to the general public. Adults are asked to bring a picture ID and children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Information about the H1N1 Influenza is also available at the following websites at
